This volume was published by Mary Tift and was acquired by the Frye Art Museum in conjunction with its exhibition Mary Tift: Memorabilia (December 22, 2000–February 4, 2001). The exhibition displays Tift’s long and successful career in printmaking, and is comprised of prints from private collections.

As an artist, Tift has never stopped learning and growing, “printmaking for me has been an experience in creating and unfoldment.” Influenced by oriental art and aesthetics, Tift developed an innovative silkscreen technique that allows the paper color and surface texture to show through and become an integral part of the final print. Everyday objects and memorabilia, from cigar boxes to bowls of cherries, are the hallmarks of her prints. Curated by the artist, this volume features a survey of Tift’s print work.

This publication includes an artist statement, selected list of exhibitions, public collections and bibliography along with twenty full color illustrations, and a catalogue of the artist’s work. Introduction by Richard V. West and exhibition checklist included in separate removable publication.
